IV.3 · The course

PADI Specialty courses are single-skill certifications that build on Advanced Open Water. Each focuses on one technique, environment, or piece of equipment. Stack five specialties plus fifty logged dives and you become a Master Scuba Diver — the highest non-professional recreational rating.

We teach the specialties our crew is qualified for, where the skill is matched to a real local site. Nitrox is taught dry (one day, written exam, no dives). Deep, Wreck, Drift, and Underwater Photography are two- to four-dive courses run alongside our standard expedition trips.

Pricing varies by specialty — typically RM 1,200 to RM 2,400 depending on whether tank charges, equipment rental, and external certification fees are included.

Syllabus

What you learn.

  1. 01

    Enriched Air Nitrox

One-day dry course. Gas analysis, oxygen exposure, blending principles. Written exam. No dives required for certification — the certification is for the gas-mix knowledge.

  2. 02

    Deep Diver

Four dives to a maximum of forty metres. Tokong Bahara wall, Tiger Reef pinnacle. Gas management, narcosis recognition, emergency decompression theory.

  3. 03

    Wreck Diver

Four dives. Tokong Burung lighter wreck and the artificial reef wreck off Salang. Wreck assessment, line use, no-penetration vs limited-penetration protocols.

  4. 04

    Drift Diver

Two dives at Magicienne Rock. SMB deployment, group navigation in current, emergency procedures.

  5. 05

    Underwater Photographer

Two dives + briefing. Composition, lighting, settings, post-dive review with the instructor. Bring your own camera.

  6. 06

    Search & Recovery

Four dives. Search patterns (U-pattern, expanding-square, circular), lift bag use, knot tying. Theory: object recovery legalities.
