Tenggol is the deepest of the east-coast islands. The granite pinnacles run to forty metres, the current at Tokong Timur picks up to two knots on the change of tide, and the offshore sites occasionally produce whale sharks. This is where Peninsular Malaysian divers go after they outgrow Tioman.

We base from Kuala Dungun for the ninety-minute crossing. The island has one dive resort and no day-trip operators. Sites are roughly half wall, half drift, with one wreck (the Tokong Burung lighter) at twenty-eight metres.
